Diu
island is a real pleasant surprise
across the bridge from Ahmedpur Mandvi. Lying on the offshore
of Gujarat mainland, minutes offshore from the mainland
of Gujarat, yet has the feel of being like on a mediterranean
island. Nothing can quite prepare you for the treasure-trove
of Diu. Diu reflects the Portuguese colonial period architecture
like the churches, public buildings, bungalows with pastel
shaded walls, truss roofs, terraces, galleries, clean
wide road, neat clean beaches etc. Nagoa Beach is one
of the most beautiful, white sanded, crescent shaped of
quiet blue water and is perfect for swimming, wading,
relaxing, water sports like jet skiing, knee board surfing,
pony and camel riding. Other beaches here include Jalandhar
a pleasant and quiet beach, Chakratirth Beach with sunset
point, a Shiv Temple and a summer bungalow, Goghla Beach
on the Diu union territory section, Simmer Beach promoting
water sports, fishing, sailing etc., Gahirmata beach being
made a resort soon.

Devka
Beach
The long shore-line at Devka has always fascinated
the tourists. The beautiful and well tended
amusement park with its musical fountain and
kid's corner has become very popular, attracting
bus loads of tourists every weekend. When the
park is illuminated on festive days, it provides
and enchanting sight, Most of the good joints
and posh hotels are just within walking distance.
Taxis and auto rickshaws are easily available
to take you to Devka. Children enjoy the facility
of a pony-ride on the sands. The traveler can
beat the summer heat by taking a swim in the
cool waters of the sea. Those who are not very
familiar with the beach at Devka should kindly
take note that rough rocky formations are there
beneath the water level.

Jampore
Beach
Towards south, Jampore Beach leads on to the border
of Gujarat. It is a pleasant spot, where one communes
with nature in sublime solitude. This beach is most
suited to swimming as it is danger-free, During
low-tide, one can walk on the soft wet sand right
in to the sea, Don't miss a picnic with your family
in the shade of Casurina plantation on the sea-shore.

Nagoa
Beach
If you are not keen on site-seeing, take a twenty
minutes refreshing drive through open arid land
to dense coconut groves to reach the Nagoa Beach.
It is located in the Nagoa hamlet of the village
of Bucharwada. The beach is exceptionally beautiful
and quiet. In the exceptionally beautiful horse-shoe
(semi-circular) shaped beach, various water sports
facilities are available. It is safe for swimming.
Plenty of branching Palm Hoka trees whisper and
sway in the intoxicating sea breeze all day long.
The virginity of the beach and serenity of the surroundings
give you peace and pleasure beyond expression.

JALLANDHAR
SHRINE
Jallandhar Shrine is located on a hillock close to
the beach. This small shrine crowned with a dome,
contains a niche wherein a stone carved face of Jallandhar
is seen. Near by there is also a temple of Goddess
Chandrika. The beach is at a distance of 1 km from
Diu Town.
